I'm a software engineer working on a variety of interesting tools, specialising in the Javascript and Typescript ecosystem. Before working as a software engineer, I was a technical recruiter, and ran the early careers programme for a tech startup.
I believe there's a fundemental issue facing the startup and scaleup scene, and that's attracting junior talent. Junior candidates are often unaware of the sector or struggle to understand how to break in - and considering alumni of high growth companies are disproportionately likely to create successful startups themeselves, we are robbing ourselves of many amazing businesses and jobs!
I look after the commercial side of the platform and am also currently building out the future features. If you're curious, the platform is built using NextJS, Supabase and Vercel!

I'm a third year computer science student at the Unviersity of Manchester looking to break into the software engineering industry. Working on StartupGradJobs was an amazing opportunity afforded to me by Cam, giving me the chance to experiment with my skills and experience some real hands-on work.
This project really appealed to me as I recently experienced the issues surrounding a job market dominated by traditional organisations, with little opportunity for innovation or variation. With my hunt for a graduate position not far beyond the horizon, StartupGradJobs will have a direct impact on the direction of my career and I hope to explore the opportunities a startup may offer me to quickly develop into a full-time software engineer.
My role is focused on the development of the site. As I juggle university work alongside the project, my free time is often inconsistent and unpredictable. With our collaborative setup, I am able to pick up any small work I have time for without needing to commit to certain hours. This keeps the role flexible while developing my practical skills and progressing the site.
